Expats May Avail 5-Year Residence Visa In UAE After Retiring According To A Newly Passed Law

Expats in the UAE who are planning to retire but don’t want to leave the country may avail the 5-year residence visa but it comes with conditions.


This has been announced by His Higness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai yesterday.


The particular visa is only applicable to expat retirees over the age of 55.


Applicants must abide with the following rules:


1. The expat should have investment in a property worth Dh2 million, or

2. Have savings of no less than Dh1 million

3. Have an active income not less than Dh20,000 per month
