Filipinos To Celebrate PH Independence Day in UAE

Thousands of Pinoys are expected to flock the celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day at Zabeel Hall 1, Dubai World Trade Center on June 15, Friday.


The whole day FREE-ADMISSION event is set to start at 7:00 in the morning with an early motorcade from the Philippine Consulate Office grounds to the venue.



This will be headed by Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, Vice Consuls Beth Ramos and Marianne Bringas, Labor Attache Felicitas Bay from POLO-OWWA and the rest of PID Organizing Committee.


The Philippines Concert King, Martin Nievera and actress Arci Munoz will headline the celebration.


Exciting segments will fill the day with prizes and surprises for the Filipino community.


Job seekers will get the chance to submit their CV’s in the annual “Job Fair (Tulong sa Paghahanap ng Mapapasukan)”.


Creativity of Pinoys will be highlighted in the event. “Hataw Pinoy” will set the bar with heart-pumping routines from participating hip-hop groups.


The yearly “On-the-spot Painting Contest” will showcase artistry open to different levels. “Chocolate, Fruit and Vegetable Carving Competition” and a new segment called “Flair and Mixology” will acknowledge Pinoys who excel in the Food and Beverage industry.


A new segment called “Makatang Pinoy” will put on spotlight new-generation Filipino poets reciting their pieces on-stage.


Filipino music will also be celebrated with special performances of winners from “Himig ng mga Bagong Bayani” featuring novices and senior categories for both teen and adult levels. The said segment had selected its Grand winners held earlier at Avenue Hotel last May 4.


Gian Sauler (Kids), Ivy Grace Aguilar (Novice) and Ireneo Dulatre (Senior) were hailed as champions in their respective categories.


“Battle of the Bands” will clash eight Filipino bands like Alagad ni Kalantiao, Section 42, Kultura, Curious Juan, Aswang de Makina, Smooth, Rodigals and K8 Screw.


“Musicapella” will bring acapella groups to compete in an exciting music match.

Eleven lovely Pinays will compete for the crown of “Hiyas ng Pilipinas”.


Pre-pageant event was previously held in 8 Flavors Restaurant last May 11.
