Flu Drug From Japan Proven To Be Much Effective In Treating Covid-19 In Early Trials
Chinese doctors have discovered that a Japanese flu drug is proven to be effective in treating the novel coronavirus in early trials.
According to a Guardian report, the antiviral drug favipiravir was tested on 340 patients and doctors found out that it reduces recovery time and improves lung condition of patients.
The patients in China tested negative for the virus after a media of four days, compared with a median of 11 days for those who were not treated with the drug.
"it is a high degree of safety and is clearly effective in treatment," Zhang Xinmin, an official at China's Science and Technology Ministry, was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
In a separate report by Nikkei, about 91 percent of of the patients who were given with the drug have their conditions improved, compared to 62 percent of those who didn't take it.
