Fruits from Kerala Now Banned In The UAE
After Nipah Virus (NiV) took several lives in the southern Indian state of Kerala, the UAE has decided to ban fresh fruits imported in the country.
As of this writing, it has already claimed 11 lives in Kerala.
NiV infection, the newly emerging zoonosis that affects both animals and humans, are known to be spread by fruit bats.
The Ministry of Climate Control and Environment also announces that it will ban imports of live animals from South Africa to ensure the health of the residents.
