Good News! Dubai's Philippine Consulate Will Transfer To A Bigger Building
To host the growing number of Filipinos here in the UAE, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai in Al Qusais, Dubai is planning to transfer to a new and larger place.
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes plans to transfer to a bigger building somewhere more accessible in Dubai in August 2019.
Cortes, in a press conference held in his office today, added that the building will host other government offices, such as the Philippine Overseas Labor and Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The new place will be more accessible and convenient for Filipinos and non-Filipinos.
The current location of the Philippine Consulate is in Al Qusais, Dubai – an approximate 25-minute walk from Al Qusais Metro Station or a taxi away from the said metro station.
The consulate also holds at least four different events every month that are attended by several Filipino community leaders and members. These events are town hall meeting, musical concerts, photo shoot exhibit, among others.
As of 2015, there are 335,923 Filipinos in the UAE; meanwhile, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), in 2016, the number soared up to 347,210.
The consul general said that they have already forwarded the estimated cost of the new office to the Philippine Senate and is yet to be passed and approved.
