Having A Messy Desk Is A Sign Of Intelligence, Science Revealed
Do you agree? Well, one way to find out is to observe the desks of geniuses like these folks.
If your desk is messy, science states that you might be a creative genius.
Your officemates might not find it welcoming if your office table consists of scraps of paper, coffee cups, envelopes, and wilted plants but a recent study claims creative geniuses favour a chaotic workspace.
A team of researchers at the University of Minnesota conducted a study where participants came up with new ideas both working in tidy and disorderly work areas. It shockingly revealed that while they came up with the same number of ideas, those who have worked in messier desks have far more interesting and creative ideas.
Oddly, those with untidy desks were considered risk-takers while those at cleaner desks tend to follow strict rules and are less likely to follow new things.
“Disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition, which can produce fresh insights,” researchers wrote.
In archive photos, it can be seen that Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Steve Jobs have messy desks.
Perhaps geniuses have more important things to think of than cleaning and filing things.
