Pharmacists Start Clinical Trial On A Vaccine To End Coronavirus Once And For All

Drugmaker Moderna Therapeutics is all set to start a clinical trial of an investigational drug against coronavirus os COVID-19.

In a report bt The Week, the phase one set kicks off as early as April for its messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine, mRNA-1273.

The first set of vials were already sent to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a centre under the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

The vaccine will be used and tested for dozen of healthy patients to assess the safety and immune response, in this method will determine the effectiveness of the vaccine against the infection.

Moderna, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based technology company, was able to produce vaccine candidates for the first batch of the clinical trial in 42 days from sequence identification.
