Series of Deaths Of Philippine Public Officials Compared To THE PURGE
The current situation in the Philippines is being linked by netizens to The Purge.
The first part of the film tells a story of the ‘future’ wherein residents are permitted to kill each other and low-ranking government officials within 12 hours. The catch? The killing-spree is legal.
The only difference was in a span of six days, three public officials in the said country were gunned down.
On Monday, Tanuan Mayor Antonio Halili of Batangas was shot dead while singing the national anthem at a gathering.
Less than 24 hours, General Tinio Mayor Ferdinand Bote of Nueva Ecija was also shot at close range by unidentified gunmen.
And today, July 7, Trece Martires Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan of Cavite was killed outside the Korean-Philippine Hospital by a gunman aboard an SUV.
And netizens over Twitter are comparing the same event with the dystopian film.
