Sign Language Gorilla Taught Us To See What Friendship Could Be With Wild Animals
Koko the sign language gorilla has passed away and she reminded us that we can be friends with anyone, including with the wild.
She was 46 years old but she has learned sign language and had formed several celebrity friendships while in the United States.
She died peacefully in her sleep at the Gorilla Foundation’s preserve in California.
She was born at San Francisco Zoo in 1971.
Her initial name was Hanabi-ko which is “fireworks child” in Japanese.
He had learned about 2,000 words of verbal English.
Her abilities to connect with people will definitely continue to shape the world.
