This almost 50-year-old iconic sign was removed in Dubai
There was a signage in Dubai that was erected on top of a building in the 1970s and existed for decades that the building named after it.
It’s the Toyota sign at the top of a building which has been affectionately called “Toyota Tower.”
The tower is actually called Nasser Rashid Lootah Building. It’s located along Sheikh Zayed Road that has been existing since the 1970s.
The billboard was removed as the advertising contract has expired.
“The contract has expired. There will be a new sign soon,” Abdul Kader, manager at NRL Real Estate, said.
Back in the ‘70s, the area is surrounded by nothing but sand and a few low-rise buildings.
Now that it’s removed, will it still be called the Toyota Tower?
People are not having it.
Plant Operator Hassan Cheema took to social media, urging the car company to renew their contract with the real estate company.
“That’s really bad, they should have renewed the contract. But the building will remain Toyota Building I guess. Everybody knows only Toyota Building! Nothing else,” he added.
